Spring is in the air and winter has quickly faded behind us. Along with the rise of daffodils and cherry blossoms a lot of us tend to feel the urge to spring clean and cleanse ourselves and our lives.
Around this time our natural desire to match Mother Nature with her Spring freshness and brilliance emerges. That’s why our Superfood of the week, Spirulina, is such a perfect match for this beautiful week in April.
Spirulina is an excellent addition to your internal spring clean as well as a great supplement to keep regularly handy for your daily smoothies. Packed with antioxidants among many other goodies, Spirulina will bind heavy metals, cleanse your body and blood as well as assist in cleaning out your colon.
Many people associate cleansing with hunger, but it doesn’t have to!
This recipe is simple, satisfying and filling. A delicious smoothie in a bowl for nourishing and cleansing! Follow below and create to your taste by garnishing with different toppings.
- 2 Bananas
- Handful of Spinach
- ¾ Cup frozen berries or fruit (I used a mix of mangos and raspberries)
- 1 tsp of Spirulina
- ¼ cup of almond milk
Whatever you choose!
My choices were:
- Place ingredients in blender
- Pour into bowl
- Add toppings
- Grab spoon
