The Role
The Product Marketing Specialist plays a crucial role in the success of our product lines. Responsible for managing product development and launch projects, providing strategic recommendations to enhance our product offerings, and leading label creation projects. The ideal candidate has a strong background in project management, exceptional organizational skills, and a passion for marketing.
ResponsibilitiesÂ
Project Management
- Lead and manage multiple projects for product development, launch, packaging, and labelling simultaneously. Ensuring timely delivery and alignment with company goals.
- Balancing and multitasking between multiple immediate and long-term priorities and execute strongly with attention to detail.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Develop product launch and innovation plans and timelines with the support of management to secure consumer interest and retail distribution.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including design, operations, sales, and marketing to ensure successful project execution.
Product Development Research
- Conduct market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
- Analyze data, consumer research, and market trends to provide insights and recommendations for new product development, product change, and SKU rationalization.
- Work closely with marketing and quality assurance teams to ensure new products meet high standards of quality and efficacy.
Strategic Recommendations
- Develop and present strategic recommendations to senior management for product improvements and new product launches. You like to dig into the data and can synthesize it to pull out the “so what” and create an actionable recommendation.
- Monitor and analyze product performance metrics to identify areas for enhancement.
- Stay updated with industry developments and incorporate innovative approaches into the product development process.
Product Packaging and Labelling
- Research product packaging options, landscape, and innovation within the CPG industry.
- Make product packaging recommendations in collaboration with operations, quality assurance, and senior leadership teams.
- Oversee the development and design of new product labels and packaging, with the support of the Marketing Manager.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with the Quality Assurance Team and Designers to review, initiate, and approve all updates to existing product labels.
- Collaborate with marketing and the design team to create visually appealing and informative labels that reflect the brand’s identity.
- Maintain up to date product specs records internally.
- Manage GS1 & Prosync database and ensure product packaging accuracy and integrity.
- Other duties as required.Â
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in product marketing.
- Proven project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, working cross-functionally with various stakeholders.
- Exceptional organizational skills and self-motivated.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with market research.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Highly skilled at using analytical data to recommend strategic solutions.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Proficiency in MS365 including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Teams or similar software.
- Experience in the GS1 & Prosync database an asset.
- Strong written, presentation, and verbal communication skills with strong persuasion – you can command a room and make your point (even when it isn’t popular).
- Comfortable communication across and up/down the organization to all levels.
- Performance driven and can take on a high level of responsibility and work in a fast-paced environment.
