Salvia hispanica

Chia seeds have long been a staple for Incan, Mayan, and Aztec cultures. Highly nutritious and extremely energizing, these seeds contain essential fatty acids, protein, fiber, and vitamins A, B, E, and D. Not to mention a variety of minerals including calcium, phosphorus, potassium, sulphur, iron, iodine, and magnesium. They are easily digested and when dissolved in water, create a substance that resembles gelatin. The high protein and fiber content produce a long-lasting satiation, which may be beneficial for those seeking healthy weight management options. Chia seeds are also known to contribute to the maintenance of healthy mental function and normal heart health. They have a mild, nutty flavour and are a great addition to smoothies, granola, oatmeal, and yogurt.

Suggested use: 1-2 tablespoons soaked in any liquid of your choice, about 30 minutes before consumption, at room temperature.
