Product Information

Native to the Mediterranean region and southern Russia, dill is a hardy annual plant that has traditionally been used for colic and flatulence. It was often mentioned by writers in the Middle Ages and used by magicians in their spells and charms. Dill is now commonly used to flavour savoury dishes, for pickling vegetables, or to aid in digestion. It contains flavanoids, coumarins, fixed oils, proteins, phenolic acids, triterpenes, and volatile oils. It is a stimulant and aromatic, and both the seeds and the leaves can be used. Dill can be added to sauces and soups, and to flavour fish or cheese dishes. The French often use dill to flavour cakes and pastry.
