Product Information

Dulse is an edible red seaweed primarily found in the cold Atlantic and Pacific oceanic waters, in the intertidal zone in coastal Canada, Iceland, Arctic Russia, Japan, Korea, Ireland and Norway. It is a clinically proven antioxidant and has been consumed by Asian cultures for hundreds of years, and has been an important source of fibres in Iceland for centuries. It has cleansing and detoxifying properties and is beneficial for those suffering from mineral deficiencies. Dulse is a great source of iodine and manganese, which help activate enzyme systems and contribute to healthy hormone function. It contains a variety of other nutrients including calcium, phosphorous, Vitamin C, and all of the essential amino acids. It is also high in potassium making it a good salt substitute. Dulse has been known to help relieve constipation and stomach complaints, including sea sickness. For those with a plant based diet, dulse is an excellent way to increase protein intake. It can be consumed with water, added to food for a slightly salty flavour or used as a thickening agent in soups.

Suggested use: ¼ teaspoon a day added to food or water. Can be used in skin care products or for hair loss prevention.

Because dulse contains iodine, it is best to avoid eating it every day.
