Manager, People & Culture

We seek a values-driven Manager, People & Culture, who will roll up their sleeves to help Harmonic Arts grow while growing with us. In this newly-created role, you will embody our values to continuously improve our business practices and make sustainable, forward-looking choices that minimize our impact on the environment.

You bring a business partner mindset to how people and culture solutions are prioritized and executed. You bring a sense of ownership and collaboration, operate with a growth mindset, display great coaching skills, and keep a finger on the pulse of what people want in their career and work environment.

You bring experience in high growth industries and play an important role in helping evolve the culture to foster high performance, trust, accountability, and continuous learning.

This role reports to the Chief Executive Officer. You will act as a business partner to the leadership team, working together to achieve our business objectives. Your primary focus will be on developing and implementing agile and scalable HR practices and systems to support growth, attract and retain talent, and promote a continuous learning culture.

You have a strong understanding of HR best practices and a proven track record of implementing and managing effective HR programs. You are passionate about people, experienced in building trust in collaborative, values-driven work environments, and approach your work with curiosity. You will help us adapt leading-edge people and culture workplace practices and policies to meet the ever-changing needs of our team.

This high-impact opportunity is part of our hybrid work structure. You will provide on-site support at our manufacturing facility in Cumberland, BC, on certain days of the week and you will be able to work remotely (within a reasonable distance of Cumberland, BC) on other days of the week.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Take a true “hands-on” approach in developing and implementing innovative, agile, and scalable HR practices and systems to support growth, attract and retain talent, and promote continuous learning.
  • Work closely with leaders across the organization to foster an environment that prioritizes our values, ensuring people programs, processes, policies, and systems are aligned with business goals and employee expectations.
  • Successfully monitor the “pulse” of the organization by acting with the employee experience at the forefront, seeking feedback and identifying areas for improvement to ensure a high level of employee engagement.
  • Provide professional guidance and support to leaders and employees on people-related issues.
  • Provide guidance and support in building team cohesion and communication strategies within remote and hybrid work environments.
  • Identify and facilitate learning and development opportunities to support the growth of people and the business.
  • Lead the process for grant applications and required reporting, including identifying grant opportunities and working with external parties to facilitate the process where necessary.
  • Participate in risk management by maintaining current knowledge of provincial laws and regulations and help educate leaders about any potential impact on people and the business.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of the company’s total rewards program.
  • Participate as a member of the diversity, equity and inclusion committee.
  • Stay informed of industry trends and best practices related to HR.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 5 - 10 years of progressive HR experience.
  • Completion of post-secondary education (or equivalent) in human resources management and/or business is preferred.
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is an asset.
  • Proven experience as an effective HR business partner in a high-growth company.
  • Demonstrated success in building innovative recruitment processes to attract and retain top talent.
  • Strong interpersonal, coaching, and leadership skills to build and maintain relationships, as well as influence and inspire others.
  • Deep understanding of organizational culture, team dynamics, and career pathing practices.
  • Experience in supporting and leading continuous improvement and change management.
  • Ability to proactively identify issues and facilitate resolutions.
  • Experience in grant application processes and procedures is an asset.
  • Knowledge of payroll processes and employment-related regulations is an asset.
  • Understanding of total rewards strategies is an asset.

Working Conditions

Work is conducted mainly indoors in an office environment and manufacturing facility environment. Some travel may be required, based on business needs. Work outside regular office hours is rare.
