Juniper is best prepared as an infusion (1-3 tbsp. of berries to a pint of hot water) or 10 to 30 drops of a tinctural preparation. The berries can also be eaten raw. Do not consume large amounts over a long period of time.

The taste of juniper berries is the main flavour attributed to gin. Juniper berries contains volatile oils, sugar, resin, juniperin, proteins, flavonoids, and vitamin C. It also contains a variety of minerals such as sulfur, copper, and cobalt. It has traditionally been used as a diuretic and treatment of respiratory problems.
