Plant Medicine with Purpose: How We’re Giving Back

Plant Medicine with Purpose: How We’re Giving Back

Elizabeth Ferns |

At Harmonic Arts, we’re committed to crafting plant medicine with purpose and creating a positive impact on both people and planet. We proudly embody this commitment by giving back in various ways, including our partnership with 1% for the Planet, in-kind gifts, and charitable donations. At the end of each quarter, the Harmonic Arts team has the opportunity to nominate and select a charity to receive a donation from the company. To help you understand how we give back, read on to learn more about the organizations that we have supported over the last year.

1% FOR THE PLANET

Trans Canada Trail

For our Green Friday promotion this year, we’ve pledged to donate 1% of every sale between November 29-December 2 to Trans Canada Trail. The Trans Canada Trail is the longest multi-use trail system in the world, and it is always growing. It reaches every province and territory, connecting 15,000 communities between all three of Canada’s coastlines. We believe that supporting the maintenance of this trail system is an impactful step towards nurturing the connection between people and planet. Appalachian Herb Collective – Hurricane Relief

Our final quarterly donation of 2024 will give $250 to the Appalachian Herb Collective. This collective is a grass roots “Herbal Re-leaf" effort created in response to the devastation inflicted by Hurricane Helene. Their mission is to support their community and surrounding areas by offering free herbal education clinics, as well as distributing herbal products, first aid supplies, and other various types of necessary medicine.

Canadian Red Cross – Alberta Wildfires

In the summer, we donated $1,575 to the Canadian Red Cross, specifically to provide support during the Alberta wildfires. Our largest retail store in Alberta is Nutters, and their storefront in Jasper had to close their doors for a few weeks as they evacuated due to the wildfire. When we made this donation, the Government of Canada and the Government of Alberta matched every dollar.

Comox Valley Senior Support Society

Our first quarterly donation in 2024 was $250 to Comox Valley Senior Support. This organization helps older adults who are experiencing isolation and loneliness, or who are feeling vulnerable due to challenging situations. What started as a viable way of offering emotional support to seniors quickly expanded to include support to seniors struggling with transportation, housing, elder abuse, information and education issues, resources, and other services.

Penny Appeal Canada – Gaza Emergency Response

At the end of 2023, we donated $250 to Penny Appeal Canada – specifically the Gaza Emergency Response. Penny Appeal Canada is a relief and development organization with a mission to break the cycles of need and poverty for good. Our Donation to the Gaza Emergency Response helped provide food, medicine, and emergency kits within the Gaza Strip.

1% FOR THE PLANET:

Cumberland Community Forest Society

The Cumberland Community Forest Society (CCFS) is a champion of land conservation and ecological stewardship in the village of Cumberland, BC, and surrounding region. Their efforts directly promote ecosystem health, drinking water protection, and community climate resilience. Our support of CCFS is ongoing and to date, we have donated $79,000 towards their conservation efforts.
